New Orleans Wine & Food Experience

For many years it used to be the legal drinking age in Louisiana and a number of other states, but now 18 doesn’t mean as much as it once did. Unless it’s the New Orleans Wine & Food Experience which is celebrating that milestone age in 2009.
For the 18th straight year, viticulture and haute cuisine come together to create an epicurean feast for all the senses as the NOWFE returns to the French Quarter from May 19 through the 23rd. One hundred seventy-five of the most prestigious national and international vintners merge their winemaking skills with seventy-five renowned chefs from all over New Orleans and the U.S. as the anxiously awaited event grows bigger and better every year.
Among the events scheduled this year are:
  • Premium Fine-Wine Dinner
  • Wine Dinners
  • Vinola Tasting & Auction
  • Royal Street Stroll
  • Seminars
  • Grand Tastings
Plus the ever-popular “Krewe of Cork” parade through the French Quarter, a rollicking event of marchers in wine-themed costumes, celebrating food, wine and fun (though not necessarily in that order).

An “A-List” of Participants

Participants in the 2009 NOWFE include a virtual who’s who of chefs from nearly every top-rated New Orleans restaurant, plus visiting chefs from celebrated eateries in Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington, DC and elsewhere. Many of the local restaurants will offer wine and food pairings, with vintners and chefs on hand to explain how the two go together. For a complete listing of these pairings [[http://nowfe.com/events/wednesday#Wine Dinners|click here]].
